Barcum has been charged with positioning UPA as a leading source of innovative and distinctive workers’ compensation solutions on a national stage. Previously, Barcum served as CEO and President of Applied Intelligence Group, a publicly traded systems consulting and software development firm. Barcum was also president of a software development firm and vice president of a publicly held consulting firm. |

Karen Bolinder, VP
Program Operations

Ms. Bolinder has 20 years experience in the worker’s compensation insurance industry. She began her career working for a large self insurance fund and migrated to the fully insured arena as the program manager of a managing general agency. She has experience in all aspects of policy management including underwriting, policy administration, premium billing, auditing, statistical reporting and accounting. Most recently, Ms. Bolinder served as the Corporate Controller for a large third party administrator. |

Carol Gonzalez
VP of Sales |
Ms. Gonzalez has been in the property and casualty insurance industry for more than eight years. She began her career in workers’ compensation in 2001 working for Unisource Administrators as part of the claims management department. Her experience includes agency management, underwriting, policy administration, marketing and sales, and carrier and state workers’ compensation regulations. Ms. Gonzalez has led several workers’ compensation training programs for independent agents in Florida. She is a graduate of the Valley State University in Colombia. She is an active member of IIADC and YAC in Florida. |

Barbara Drollinger
VP of Strategic Relations

A 20-year veteran in the workers’ compensation arena, Ms. Drollinger serves as vice president of strategic relations for UPA. Prior to joining UPA, Drollinger was vice president of insurance operations at CompSource Oklahoma. She was instrumental in streamlining insurance operations to industry standards; and the development of an agent compensation program. She has been a member of the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds (AASCIF) Policyholder Services Committee, and holds an Oklahoma property and casualty insurance agent license.

Sherry Kast

Ms. Kast has 20 years experience in marketing, public relations and strategic planning. With a background in workers' compensation and disability insurance, her experience ranges from nonprofit communications to public affairs to marketing at a Fortune 200 company. She is accredited in public relations by the Public Relations Society of America. During her career, Ms. Kast has garnered 42 awards in marketing, communications and public relations. |

David Clausen

Mr. Clausen has more than 20 years experience in IT within the following industries: retail, insurance, manufacturing, warehousing, eCommerce and finance. He has a solid technical understanding of how to leverage IT to meet business goals. Mr. Clausen has the unique ability to bring out of the box thinking to any business opportunity. A solution architect, he has lead a number of large projects some with budgets well over a million dollars.
